
Emma Bachman is a graduate student in Vocal Performance at Austin Peay State University and the current Miss North Dakota Volunteer (At-Large State Titleholder). Originally from Springfield, Illinois, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Western Illinois University after attending Lincoln Land Community College.
Emma has performed a range of operatic roles, including Pamina in The Magic Flute, Stella in The Last Sorcerer, and Lady Fortunato in The Cask of Amontillado. She has also sung scenes from The Tales of Hoffmann, Die Walküre, Armide, Scipione, and L’Incoronazione di Poppea. In 2023, she trained at the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy, where she performed scenes from La Bohème, Le Nozze di Figaro, and L’Elisir d’Amore. She will next appear as Zelda 24’ in Evan Mack’s The Ghost of Gatsby.
Emma is a 2024 NATS National Semifinalist, winner of the 2025 APSU Concerto Competition, and placed 1st in MT9 and 3rd in CL9 at the 2025 NATS Mid-South Regionals. She has performed in masterclasses with Lisette Oropesa and Eileen Downey, and premiered I Will Dream With You by Santiago Veros as a soloist.
Outside academia, Emma has taught private voice since 2017, served as a musical director, and worked at The Arts Alliance and Point-O-Pines Summer Camp, sharing her passion for opera with the next generation. Her diverse experience and deep love for music have shaped her into a dedicated performer, educator, and advocate for the arts.
